for herself.When she finished writing it,she found she had
no stamp.She had to put the letter at a crossing the next morn-ing .
Luckily a policeman found the letter.He read it to his com-rades.They were all so moved that they gathered ③ together 50
roubles and sent it to the poor old woman. At first Granny
Green was happy.But after she counted the money,she became
angry and said,“I'm told that all things that are touched
by policemen will be only a half left!”
