注意:There is no doubt后接名词时需用介词about / of。如:

There is no doubt about his honesty.毫无疑问他是诚实的。

Following old photos, the new room has been made to look much like the old one. 它是根据旧照片来建造的,样子非常像老的琥珀屋。
Following old photos: being made according to old photos, 是现在分词充当状语,又如:

Finding that her mother had left her alone, the little girl was very disappointed.

发现妈妈留下她独自一人,这个小姑娘很失望。

Step 5: Practice

Homework:

Get ready for a dictation;
Try to find some attributive clauses with who/ which/ where/ when/ that etc. in the reading passage. 

Period 3    Grammar—Restrictive attributive clause and Non-restrictive attributive clause

Teaching aims:

The attributive clauses with that/ which/ who/ where/ when.

Focus:

Enable Ss to know how to use the relatives that/ which/ who/ where/ when properly.

Teaching steps:

Step 1: Dictation

10 words and expressions taken from the text

Step 2: Grammar

T introduces a sentence taken from the reading passage:
This gift was the Amber Room, which was given this name because almost seven thousand tons of amber were used to make it.

T lets Ss find out more similar attributive clauses from Warming up, Pre-reading and Reading, and then asks some Ss to explain them.
T explains the rules of Restrictive and Non-restrictive clauses(见教材P85-86).
Step 3: Practice

1. T asks some Ss to do these exercises on the blackboard:

P4 Ex2 1, 3, 5

P4 Ex3 1, 3, 5

P43 Using structures 1, 3, 5, 7

 Period 4    Reading (II) and Writing

Teaching aims:

a. 词汇:trial, consider, prove, tell the truth, pretend, think highly of, besides.

b. 句型:I think highly of those who are searching for the amber Room.

        Besides, my father once told me that any person who finds something could keep it.

c. 能力:Enable Ss to know what a fact is and what an opinion is, to know how to make judgments and to write a short reply to a letter, as well as giving their own opinions.

Focus:Writing

Teaching steps:

Step 1:  Revision

Step 2:  Listening

Ss listen to the short passage on P5 and answer: What is a fact? What is an opinion?

Step 3:  Reading

Ss read the passage aloud together. Then T gives them some sentences, make them tell whether the sentence is a fact or an opinion. Or T can let Ss give some facts and opinions.

Step 4:  Writing

T: If you have found the Amber Room, what will you do with it? Will you keep it or will you give it to the government?

T: Now, listen to a letter from a high school student in Germany, try to find his opinion about what to do with a cultural relic that has been found.

(P7: the letter from a German newspaper )

Make Ss reply to this letter: If you agree with him, follow model A; if you don’t agree, follow model B.

Remember: you must give an example from your own life.

After Ss have finished writing, T can show 1 or 2 replies to the whole class.

Homework:

P44-45 Reading task 

Period 5    Listening and Speaking

Teaching aims:

词汇:trial, consider, prove, tell the truth, pretend.

能力:Enable Ss to make judgments and to write a short reply to a letter and give their opinions.

Focus:1. note-taking; 2. asking for and giving opinions

Teaching steps:

Step 1: Listening

P5-6: T plays the tape. Ss listen to three people say they know about the missing Amber Room.

Ask the Ss pretend that they are a judge and take notes about what they hear on the tape, and then fill in the forms.

After listening to the tape, Ss share their answers with their partner.

Step 2: Speaking

Ss have a group discussion: Which person gave the best evidence? Why do you think so?

Try to use the expressions given to you.

Then write down a short list of reasons for your choice.

Finally each group chooses one student to give a short report about their list to the class.

Step 3: Workbook listening

P44 Listening task: listen to a passage about the famous architect I. M. Pei, and spell the missing words as you hear on the tape. (Ex2)

Step 4: Group discussion:

In your opinion, what buildings in Guangzhou will become cultural relics in 500 years? Why?

Homework:

1. Surf the Internet to find more information about I.M. Pei;

2. Get ready for a dictation. 

Period 6    Revision

Teaching aims:

:词汇:survive, remain, heat, design, light, wonder, doubt, prove, consider, besides, furniture, opinion,
        look into, belong to, in search of, in return, at war, take apart, think highly of.

句型: In 1770, the room was completed the way she wanted it.
        There is no doubt that …
