Step 4 Discussion (PPT18-19)

As for the son’s problems, discuss in groups and give some advice to the father.

a)    He refuses to do everything his parents ask him to do.

Advice: Talk to him kindly and don’t always force him to do what he doesn’t like.

b)    He is rude to them.

Advice: start to treat him as a grown-up, and try to understand his son’s thoughts.

a)  He refuses to spend time with them.

Advice: accompany him to do something he likes to do and he will gradually like to spend time with his family.

b)  He refuses to do his homework.

c)  He wastes time watching DVDs, listening to foreign music, chatting in Internet cafes, playing games and surfing the internet.

Advice on d) and e): Try to accept his interest and enjoy it and help him to understand his parents. Let him know he has freedom to manage his free time but study is a necessity and he should work hard at it.
