Teaching Aims:

Master the new words and structures: keep/ teach sb. sth./ teach sth. to sb./ teach sb. to do sth./ look up / the way to… / stop doing sth./ stop to do sth.

2.Ability Aims:

  Learn from this lesson, make the students discuss how to learn English well.

3.Emotion Aims:

  Learn from this lesson, make the students form the good habits of learning carefully. At the same time, form the unyielding will and persevering spirit.

Main Points:

    Get the students to talk about the best way to learn English.

Difficult Points:

1.    Improve the students’speaking and reading abilities.

2.    Encourage students to express their ideas in English.

Tape recorder ; tape; small blackboard.

Teaching Period:

Teaching steps:

Step 1: Lead-in

 Ask students the following question to lead them into the topic of today.

①    How do you learn English?

②    What is your favourite way to learn English?

Step 2: Explain the new words.

Step 3: Listening and reading by themselves:

      Listening to the tape and then reading by themselves in 2 minutes and answer the following questions on the small blackboard.

①    Where does Teresa come from?

②    What is hard for her about learning English?

③    What does she do when she does not understand a word?

④    What is her favourite way to learn English?

Step 4: Language Points:

①.keep + V-ing : “不断做某事，一直做某事”

eg: The baby keeps crying all the time.

   Keep sb. + V-ing : “让某人一直做某事

eg: He kept me waiting for 20 minutes.

②.teach sb. sth.= teach sth. to sb.

eg: Miss Zhou teaches us English this year.

   =Miss Zhou teaches English to us this year.

   teach sb. to do sth.

eg: Miss Chen taught us to use the computer last week.

③.look up:“查阅；查找，寻找”

eg: When I do not understand a word, I look it up in the dictionary.

eg: She often looks up new words in the dictionary.It is a good habit.

④.the way to do sth. “做某事的方法”

eg: The best way to learn English is to use it.

⑤.stop doing sth. “停止做某事”

eg: We stopped talking.

    Stop to do sth.

eg: We stopped to have a rest.

Step 5: Have a discussion in 3 minutes for groups, and then tell me the way to study English.
