Unit 5 I’m watching TV. Teaching Period: 1
Teaching aims:
Knowedge:1. Learn the Present Progressive Tense. Learn to talk about what people are doing.
2. Key Vocabulary: doing homework, watching TV, cleaning, eating dinner, reading, talking on the phone.
3.Target Language: --What are you doing?
--I’m watching TV.
--What’s he doing?
--He’s reading.
Ability: Listening, speaking, writing skill and Communicative competence
Moral Education: 1.The ability to cooperation and deal with the difficulties.
2. The abilities to show themselves out.
Difficult points: The structure of doing and the use of the Present Progressive Tense.
Teaching Importance:

Method Objects in Teaching:
Listening and talking methods.
Pairwork;Groupwork;Game;Writing method.
Teaching Aids: A tape recorder. A computer for multimedia use.
Teaching Procedures:
I. Warming up.
Use an intresting sing Are you sleeping? to begin my class. This part will give students a happy beginning.
II.Lead-in.
Act out some activities and let the students guess what I’m doing. (Pretend to eat something, read a book and talk on the phone), then teach the students to say them. Ask the students --what do you usually do on weekends? The students will answer:--I usually do my homework on weekends.After some practice, the teacher will say:--I usually get up in the morning. But now I’m having the English class now.
III. Presentation
Now look at the screen. There are some pictures about their classmates. This part will raise the students’ interest about this class. Please name as many the activities you see in the pictures as you can. This part will give the students the main sentence structures of the Present Progressive Tense.
IV. Practise:Groupwork.
Give students some pictures on the screen, let the students ask and answer them.
--What are you doing?
--I am + V-ing…
--What is he/she doing?
--He/She is + V-ing
Then devide the students into some groups, four studens will make a group,two students act and other two students will ask and answer the questions.
V.Presentation:
1.I will do some actions, let the students guess what I am doing. Then let the students do the same actions. The other students will guess what she/he is doing. I can use this part to give the students an other sentence structure:Are/Is you/she/he V-ing? Yes. I am. she/he is.
2.Let the students conclude the Present Progressive Tense and the teacher will give them a summarise about this grammar.
VI. Practise.
Let the students look at an intresting film :the Lion King and describe some actions in the film. Askand answer:
--What is he/she doing?
--He/She is + V-ing…
--What are they doing?
--They are+ V-ing…
VII. The Guessing Game
Let the students look at the screen and guess what is she/he doing. Students should use the sentence:
--Is he /she V-ing?
VIII. Writing practice.
Show a short film for the students, let the students write a short passage for what the animals are doing, then let the students report it out.
IX.Having fun
Let the students look at the screen and try to sing and dance. After that, they should answer my quessions.
X. Summary:
Let the students say what we’ve learned. Show the key words and the form of Present Progressive Tense on the blackboard.
XI. Homework:
Let the students draw a picture about their family after dinner, then write a short passage to express what they are doing.
