Step 1: Warming up

1. Today we are going on studying Unit 1, Module 8. First let’s read the new words in Unit 1. Please read the words one by one.  

2. Now I ask some students to read the conversation in roles and the others listen and find out mistakes.   

Some students read the words one by one. The other students listen to them and point out their mistakes if they have any.

Review the old knowledge and prepare for the next step.  

Step 2: Listen and complete the sentences with the words and expressions in the box in Activity 5.  

1. Ask the students to look at Activity 5 on Page 65 and listen to the conversation. Then complete the sentences with the words and expressions in the box.  

2. Call back the answers from the whole class as completing the sentences.

Some students say the answers and the others listen and correct their answers if they have any mistakes.  

By listening to the conversation and understanding it, train the students’ reading map’s ability.  

Step 3: Pronunciation and speaking.  

Listen and repeat. (Activity 6)  

1. Ask the student to look at the four sentences in activity 6 and listen to the tape. Then play the tape.  

2. Play the tape again.  

 

3. Ask the students to read the four sentences to themselves.  

 

 

This time they just follow it.  

   

   

   

Repeat it chorally and individually.  

Read the four sentences one by one. And pay attention to the pronunciation.  

By listening training, ask the students to master the correct pronunciation and intonation.  

Step 4.Work in pairs. (Activity 7)   

Look at the map in Activity 4 again. You’re in Wangfujing Dajie. Ask for and give directions to other place.  

1. Read through the example with the whole class  

 

.2. Circulate and monitor their production. For example:   

A: Excuse me, how do I get to the  Forbidden City ?  

B: Turn right into Dongchang’an jie…  

3. Have some pair do some example for the whole class.

Practase how to get to a place. Ask and answer in pairs.  

   

   

   

   

 

 

Act out their conversations in roles to the whole class.  

By oral practice, review and consolidate the sentences of asking ways and giving directions. Train the students’ oral expressing ability.  

Step 5: Say where the places in Activity 1 are. Use the words in Activity 5.  

1.Write the example on the blackboard.  

2.Ask the Ss to work like the model in pairs.  

   

   

 

 

3.Circulate and monitor their production and then ask them to say their sentences to the class.  

Look at the example and know what to do.  

Practise the sentences with some prepositions of directions. They can use the sentence: The submarket is opposite the restaurant.  

Some Ss say where the places in Activity 1 are. The other listen and find out mistakes if they have any.  

By oral practice, consolidate the use of the direction prepositions  

Step 6. Work in pairs.   

1.Have the Ss draw a map of your neighborhood.    

 

 

 

 

2.Circulate and monitor their production.  

   

3.Ask them to work in pairs to ask for and give direction to a place on the map and then say their conversation to the whole class.  

Work in pairs to complete the activity.  

If they have some difficult, they ask the teacher for help. They can use the following sentences:  

Where’s the market? It’s on/opposite..  

How do I get to…?  Go along…  

Some Ss act out their conversations and the others listen to them to find mistakes and correct them.  

Review and consolidate the sentences of asking for and giving directions to places.  

Step 7: Test for the teaching aims.   

A: Complete the sentences with the words and expressions in the box..

5. What can you see from the top of that tall tower?  (   )

A.I t’s just around the corner, next to the bridge.  

B. Walk across the bridge.  

C. No, there isn’t. But you can buy some at the market.  

D. Most of the city, on a clear day!  

E. At the market. Go along High Street and it’s on the left.  

F. That’s a museum.  

Exam the students if they master the knowledge that they have learned in this lesson.  

Step 8: Homework:  

1. Read the words and the conversation in this unit and recite the words.  

2. Copy the new words in this unit.  

3. Do Exx 1,2,3,4 on Page 140 and 141 in the workbook..

教学后记:  

本单元主要让学生学会如何问路和指路以及方位介词的用法。因为这一话题贴近学生的实际生活,学生比较熟悉,他们对这种话题也比较感兴趣,课堂上学生积极参与教学活动,利用所学的知识进行会话交谈。教师让同学们利用自己居住的大武口这座城市,先画出它的交通路线图,然后在根据自己所画地图进行问路和指路的会话练习,在教师的指导下,同学们马上进入小组活动,气氛活跃,多数学生都能根据本课的基本句型和自己的实际情况进行对话练习,本节课的教学效果较好,多数学生都掌握了本节课的重点知识。  

本节课的亮点是:能结合学生实际生活,充分利用现有的教学资源,设计出合理的教学环节和活动,调动了学生的积极性,让学生活学活用课本知识,并收到了预期的效果。  

本节课的不足之处是:时间安排不是很合理,显得有点前松后紧。
